Everton starts exploration work in Eastern Dominican Republic
Everton Resources Inc. (TSX-V:EVR) is pleased to announce that a regional stream sediments geochemical survey will start immediately in the Eastern Dominican Republic. This project also refereed to as “Miches Project” includes four exploration concessions granted in late 2005 and optioned by Everton Resources under a three year work agreement (see press release February 9, 2006). The four adjacent concessions cover a total area of 335 square kilometres underlain by Cretaceous volcano-sedimentary units of similar affinity and origin as the Los Ranchos Formation, host of the Pueblo Viejo gold deposit 130 kilometres to the West.
The present program is designed to define in more detail the anomalies detected by the low density regional SYSMIN program released in December 2004. This SYSMIN regional stream sediments produced assays up to 2045 parts per billion (ppb) gold, and 5 other samples higher than 100 ppb Au. These samples cluster in a region 10 x 20 km covered by the properties.
The current program is designed to sample at a higher density, the zones where gold and copper anomalies values were found. The sampling pattern will average 2 samples per square kilometre of surface as opposed to a sample density of one sample per 2.5 square kilometres by SYSMIN. The samples will be sent in its entirety for assaying in Canada, for gold by Fire Assay and ICP scan for base and pathfinder elements.
Simultaneously with the stream sediments sampling, Everton plans to conduct detailed geologic mapping to improve the knowledge of the area. It has been well documented that this area has had a history of artisanal gold placer mining on a small scale by rustic methods. A study by the United Nations in the 1980s and a follow up study by the SYSMIN I project in late 1990’s, conclusively shows the presence of alluvial gold in gravels at or near the bottom of ancient alluvial terraces. The source of this gold and copper has yet to be found.
Several exploration programs have been conducted in the region, including a regional stream sediments done by Chevron Minerals in the mid 1980s (gold + 5 elements, low density program). The results of that program concur with the 2004 SYSMIN results.
This press release has been prepared under the supervision of Marc L’Heureux, P. Geo. and Vice President of Exploration of Everton, who serves as the Qualified Person for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Properties.
Everton is a well-financed junior company with gold and base metal properties in James Bay, Quebec and in the Dominican Republic.
